Landraces of Pakistan & Afghanistan made more Accessible

We are thinking of introducing something for those who often hesitate to experience Landrace verities, I remember we introduced Hopar Valley mixed packs some time ago and people shared their wonderful insights with me how their first landrace ever grown was our Hopar Valley Mixed seeds offering which was not certainly handpicked rather generalized seeds of the crop that is being grown in the region.

For past years we’ve focused on carefully selected, farmer-specific collections small releases representing the finest expressions we discovered during our field work.

But every journey begins somewhere.

The 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 is our invitation to experience authentic landraces collection in their rawest form.

Rather than narrowing the gene pool to a handful of finest selected expressions, these packs preserve the broader diversity found within a single geographical origin. Every seed comes from the same region, yet every plant has the potential to tell a different story.

One may finish early.
Another may flower for weeks longer.

That’s exactly how traditional populations are meant to be experienced with huge diversity and thrilling unexpected phenotypes.

These aren’t “budget” versions of our premium collections. They’re an opportunity to witness the variation that existed before decades of modern breeding narrowed those
possibilities, also the price will be considered less than our hand picked selections.

For newcomers, it’s an affordable introduction to the world of landraces.

For experienced growers and breeders, it’s a chance to hunt through authentic regional diversity and discover something truly their own.

So the green community is actually willing to spend in 45-50 $ range for upcoming Sovereign Farmers population series.

I got a good news we are going between the range of 25-30$ and 45-50 $

And we are selecting 35$ for seed pack of 15 regular seeds instead of 10 (this seed count will be particularly for this series of regular seed)

$35 for a pack of 15 assorted seeds sounds like a great deal, and i really like that you’re able to sell the bulk at a discount and the customers get a broader genetic variety.

That is exactly our intention. We ran a trial using a mixed seed population and encouraged many introductory growers who had never had the chance to grow landrace before to try it. Now we are doing the same with a new drop, made for the people in our green community. It only takes one explorer to discover landrace, grow it once in their life, and experience it for themselves.

How many varieties are there and how many seeds for each variety?

@Prempavee It will include general population from our documented and undocumented feilds of Open pollinated Landraces present in each geographical region. for example in those 15 regular seeds from Pakistan Population series it will include seeds from open pollinated landrace feilds of Northern Pakistan, North West Pakistan and South West Pakistan. These locations covers all of the domesticated Landrace crops geographically present in Pakistan.
And for Afghanistan we will include Southern Desert region, South Western and Eastern Afghanistan geographical locations in those 15 reg seed of Afghan population series.

The Population Series is an invitation to explore.

For newcomers, it’s an accessible way to experience landraces before stepping into our farmer-specific collections and hand-selected releases.

Each Population is assembled from multiple undocumented and documented regional collections to preserve a broad representation of traditional diversity. They are not intended to replicate a single village, family, or selected lineage.

Pakistan Population and Afghanistan Population series is built intended to showcase the country’s natural diversity.

But they will be like a mix pack or separately labelled?

I love the idea of regional varieties. have you considered a “climate selection”? Seeds from different parts of the world that all grow under similar conditions (day length, humidity, heat, amount of rain, etc.) Possibly a way for beginners to get seeds that have the best chance of growing in their local climate as well as getting a variety of cultivars from around the world. I know supply and logistics are always a limiting factor, but I think it sounds like a neat concept.

Yes, It is something I have considered and I need a website to categorise these objectives.

My partner retail and distribution has a website but its a shop I need educational website which i will soon get it done to do this activity.

If the curiosity is present the person buying population series can look you Eastern Afghanistan or South West Pakistan Weather conditions to make a better choice right now.

I beleive Northwest Pakistan Is the best for High Rain and high humidity growin conditions with low temps in flowering its very resileint to Rotting, and if you search more on Northwest of Pakistan you will see Safed Koh Mountain which is Hindu Kush Pakistan region.
